May, 2006 - Late-night heroics result in 2 new accounts for NIA Creative

A chance meeting at a Las Vegas tradeshow caused a whirlwind of activity for NIA this March. Sr. Project Manager Craig Finetti visited the Zhone Technologies booth at TelcomNext and soon learned that the Oakland-based company was in urgent need of video services for their upcoming User's Conference, ZhoneTech 06. The immediate need was for customer testimonials which were shot the next day, but the NIA team soon learned that major media assets were needed for Zhone's event which was set to begin on April 30th.

Throughout the month of April, NIA developed several exciting videos on behalf of Zhone, including a 3D logo animation, ambient video, headline video and welcome video, followed by a photo montage wrap-up video that thrilled the crowd, leading many to ponder how it was possible that photos taken just hours before were now edited into a fun video playing on the large screen before them. Numerous evening and weekend hours were required to hit the very tight deadline but in the end, it was all worth it. The event was a huge success, and NIA was pleased to have a new client to add to their roster.

Just 3 days after completing the Zhone projects, the phone rang at the NIA studio in San Ramon. Since it was 4:30 on a Friday, and the design team was still recuperating from the recent work, staff debated whether or not to answer the call. Curiosity won out, and that call resulted in an urgent meeting at 6:00 that night with Michael McCloskey, CEO of FrontRange Solutions in Dublin. McCloskey was interested in media assets to support the FrontRange annual sales meeting that was scheduled to begin just 1 week later. With 400 sales reps expected to attend the Orlando-based event, McCloskey wanted to be sure that all were thoroughly entertained as well as informed.

The NIA team immediately began brainstorming ideas and began production over the weekend, shooting exteriors of the FrontRange building as well as the buildings belonging to their competitors. On Monday and Tuesday, the NIA crew shot footage of the FrontRange staff while McCloskey continued to refine the scripts for the videos. With final scripts in-hand on Wednesday and Thursday, the NIA production team edited into the night to deliver final DVDs on Mother's Day before McCloskey left for Orlando. On the first night of the event, McCloskey emailed an update: "The conference is going awesome and people are really pumped up about the content and video presentations you have done--Thanks for everything."
